Ready to give your belly some actual attention?
Chinese Abdominal Massage is a gentle, therapeutic bodywork practice focused on the abdomen and digestive area.
Sessions may support relaxation, body awareness, digestive comfort, emotional holding patterns, and reconnecting with the breath and core of the body. The work is slow, respectful, and guided by comfort, consent, and nervous system awareness.
Not exactly. While sessions can feel deeply relaxing, Chinese Abdominal Massage is a more focused and intentional form of therapeutic bodywork.
Rather than simply working muscular tension, the sessions centre around the abdomen, breath, and nervous system connection, creating space for deeper awareness and softening within the body.
Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced chee-nay sahng) is a deeply attuned form of abdominal massage rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist healing practices. This work was refined into a therapeutic modality by Taoist Master Mantak Chia as part of the Healing Tao system.
In Taoist medicine, the abdomen is the energetic core of the body where all the major systems meet: digestion, elimination, reproduction, emotion, and vitality. It’s also where stress, stagnation, and unprocessed experiences tend to settle.
The belly isn’t just where we digest food, it’s where we digest life.
Just as Thai massage works with sen lines and lom pran, Chi Nei Tsang works with chi, the body’s life-force energy. When chi becomes blocked or stagnant, it creates physical and emotional discomfort, especially in the gut. This work gently helps untangle those knots.
Using slow, precise pressure and circular touch around the navel and deeper abdomen, Chi Nei Tsang helps restore movement and clarity where the body has been holding.
Chi Nei Tsang sessions are offered from my private studio in New Lynn, Auckland accessed via a short flight of stairs above street level.
The space is quiet, grounding, and designed to support relaxation, safety, and presence from the moment you arrive. Full location details are provided upon booking confirmation.
No. Chi Nei Tsang is not suitable during pregnancy due to direct work on the abdoman.
No. This practice involves deep work around the uterus and lower abdomen, which can interfere with the IUD.
It is best to avoid heavy meals 2 hours beforehand. A light snack is fine about 1 hour before your session if needed. Chi Nei Tsang works directly on the belly, so arriving with an overly full stomach can feel uncomfortable.
This work can sometimes feel intense, especially in areas of long-held tension or stagnation. But it should never feel forceful or overwhelming. We'll stay in dialogue the whole time to ensure the pressure is manageable and supportive.
No, you remain fully clothed with your belly exposed for treatment.
You'll be offered Thai fisherman pants to wear and asked to bring a clean shirt (not your street clothes) to change into when you arrive.
The focus is the abdomen yes, around 45 minutes is spent working directly on the belly. The final 10 - 15 mins are used to ground and integrate the work through the rest of your body.
Sometimes, the belly holds more than just organs. It can store tension from stress, overthinking and unprocessed experiences. If anything arises you'll be supported in a grounded, caring way.
Many people feel lighter, calmer or more grounded after a session. Some experience more energy or clarity. Everyone's system is different. You might feel deeply relaxed or notice shifts continuing in the days after.
While this work is not a medical treatment, it is designed to support the body's natural ability to regulate and rebalance. You're welcome to bring in your intention and we'll work from there.
