Thai Massage with Mandy

Thai Massage in West Auckland for bodies that don't fit the standard script

Adaptive, fully clothed bodywork for burnt out neurodivergent, queer and sensory sensitive people.

Standard massage has never really worked for you, because most massage assumes a body that isn't yours.

☹️ You've been burning the candle at both ends trying to keep up with neurotypical expectations, and you’re depleted.

☹️ Your body is carrying pain that most people would only feel after a heavy gym session, because just existing in your nervous system takes that much out of you.

☹️ The mental load of processing everything at full volume: the noise, the light, the social cues, the decisions is exhausting.

And when you've tried standard massage, it's never quite been a fit.

☹️ Maybe you can't lie face down or stay in one position for 45 minutes without pain or discomfort.

☹️ Maybe there are parts of your body that are completely off limits.

☹️ Or you've never felt comfortable being naked under a sheet while someone runs their routine on you.

☹️ Perhaps the oil and the sheets sticking to your skin is a sensory nightmare

☹️ Perhaps touch itself feels unpredictable - too much in some places, not enough in others.

☹️ And you've spent every massage you've ever had masking - keeping the sounds in, stilling the fidget, performing relaxation instead of actually feeling it.

☹️ Leaving more exhausted than when you arrived, because holding yourself back took everything you had.

Professional Thai massage in West Auckland with grounded bodywork approach

Thai massage with Mandy is where that changes.

This isn't a rushed mall-style treatment, I don't run a sequence on everyone. I work with what's actually here, your body, your nervous system, what you need that day.

😊 You stay fully clothed.

😊 You're on a floor mat grounded, spacious, held.

😊 No table to balance on, no oil, no sheet, no cubicle.

😊 A low sensory environment, warm mat, soft lighting, no essential oils, no sound bleeding through from the next room.

😊 If a particular position doesn't work for your body, we don't go there.

😊 If certain areas need to be left alone, we leave them alone.

😊 If you need to focus on one part of your body rather than a full sequence, that's a conversation we can have.

😊 If you need to make sounds, move, stim, or stop performing comfort you're not feeling, you don't need to explain or apologise for that here.

And when you can actually do that, your body finally gets to let go.

This works particulary well for:

Burnt out neurospicy professionals in high-touch, high-responsibility roles - managing, leading and showing up for everyone else - whose nervous system is running on empty.

Neurodivergent people who need to move, make sounds, or just not mask for an hour.

Bodies with chronic pain, hypermobility, or mobility limitations that make standard massage uncomfortable or impossible.

Bodies that can't lie face down or stay in one position for long - whether that's pregnancy, injury, or just how your body works.

Nervous systems that are chronically activated and slow to settle.

People who've never felt comfortable undressing for a massage

Queer and gender diverse people who want a practitioner who actually gets it

Booking a session is its own form of body doubling. The accountability that finally gets you to show up for yourself.

Relaxation focused Thai massage session with Mandy in Auckland

What Thai massage can help with:

Releasing the physical tension that builds from long work days, chronic stress, and carrying more than your body was designed to hold alone.

Helping your body find more mobility and softness in the areas that feel tight, hunched, or heavy.

Giving your nervous system permission to actually settle and helping your body shift out of bracing patterns it's been holding for years.

Reconnecting with your body through slow, grounded therapeutic touch to feel more like yourself.

Whether your body has specific needs, limits, or just a history of massage that hasn't worked, this is where it starts.

What to expect:

When you arrive we'll begin with a sensory check-in - what's going on, what needs attention, what to leave alone.

I'll provide Thai fisherman pants, you bring a fresh loose-fitting shirt, everything stays on.

Thai massage is done on a floor mat using rhythmic pressure, assisted stretches, and acupressure along the body's energy lines. Positions shift throughout - lying on your back, side, stomach, or seated. I'll use my hands, elbows, feet, knees and sometimes even sitting on or leaning into you to apply pressure and support movement.

It's a conversation through the body, not something done to you.

To keep the space low-sensory for everyone, please arrive free of perfume, cologne, or heavily scented products.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of Thai massage do you offer?

My approach blends traditional Thai bodywork principles with a slower, more therapeutic style of touch that allows space for the body to soften, unwind, and reconnect with itself over time.

Where are Thai massage sessions located?

Thai massage sessions are offered from my private studio in New Lynn, Auckland — accessed via a short flight of stairs above street level.

The space is quiet, grounding, and designed to support relaxation, safety, and presence from the moment you arrive. Full location details are provided upon booking confirmation.

Do I need to take my clothes off?

Nope. Thai massage is done fully clothed. You’ll bring a clean loose-fitting shirt to change into, and I’ll provide comfortable Thai fisherman pants for the session.

Is this an oil massage?

No. Unlike traditional Western or spa massages, Thai massage is performed without oil. It uses rhythmic pressure, stretching, and movement on a floor mat, not a massage table.

Will it hurt?

This work can be deep, but it should never be painful. We'll stay in communication and I'll adjust pressure or technique as needed. It's about working with your body, not against it.

Do I need to be flexible to get a Thai massage?

Nope, Thai massage meets your body where it is. We'll work within your natural range, not push past limits but gently support more space and movement over time.

What should I wear?

Please bring a loose fitting top (like a soft t-shirt) to change into when you arrive. I'll provide Thai fisherman pants for the session. You stay fully clothed the whole time.

What if I'm not used to being touched?

That's totally okay, we'll move at your pace. This is respectful, attuned bodywork. Not rushed or invasive. You can always speak up or ask questions at any point.

Is this the same as getting stretched at a yoga studio or physiotherapist?

Not quite. While Thai massage includes assisted stretching, it also works wit pressure points, energetic lines and muscular release. It's more holistic, collaborative and much more than just getting pulled around.

Can I talk during the session?

Yes. Some people talk, some don't. There's not pressure either way. This is your time and we go with what supports you most.

Do I need to be in pain to benefit from this?

Not at all. Many people come in feeling tired, tight or just "off", and find this kind of bodywork helps them reset and feel more like themselves again.
